Mushrooms are a very interesting… thing in this world. They grow in the weirdest places and in the weirdest shapes having the weirdest tastes. You can eat them in so many ways: legal and illegal :) You can even make jam out of them. Yes: both jam the food and jam the ‘we jammin’ kind’ of jam :)
Our philosophy is simple: this music is our life and soul. Sometimes it’s hard and sometimes is so tiring. But hey! This is real life. Sometimes you go up the hill, sometimes we go down the hill and also some people like going up the hill and some people like more going down the hill :)
Once upon a time there was a silverish flute. Because it was in her nature, she was wondering around the world looking for the perfect sound. She didn’t know exactly what she was searching for, but was convinced she would recognize the magical sound upon hearing it. After travelling to so many places and listening to infinite modulations and pitches she realized: purple is the perfect color.
LIVE is the word that makes a band go crazy :) It’s the most fun part. Although rehearsals are always hilarious, Modiwo nights with the friends are overly joyful and creating new songs feeds our hearts, still the stage is the place where all come to life because a special someone is also involved: YOU! :)
Music creates mood. It’s a refuge for many and a way to express for others. It’s the most handy... thing to cover our pains with and sooth our wounds. It envelops people and makes us fly, dance, walk and live. Something you feel confortable in. Something that changes and molds to the feelings of the listener.
With very few days left from this year, Modiwo wishes you a wildly creative 2014! We thought we can summon the spirits in this jam session. We’ll see next year if our ‘endeavor’ was successful. May all the great tribal muses bless you with inspiration! :)
Modiwo was never a dream. MO DI WO is the reality that surrounds us. The MOsaic and the DIversity of the WOrld makes it so that Modiwo is yours as much as it is ours. The only thing that we’re trying to do is be the intermediaries of that diverse world and express it through music.
The show started with some magic tricks that got the kids enthused and then we played some of our songs, danced with the children on the stage, sang with them, played with them and had a wonderful evening in the presence of about 300 people.
Music is so popular that it became a way of communication, like speaking. Just as speaking can become a nonsense talk when one just blabbers about everything and anything, music too can become empty when the subject matter rolls back and forth on things like: summer time and the sea, sex, money, bitches etc.
Like a mother who never gets tired looking at her child and admiring his beauty, we also can’t stop watching our new video for ‘Cold World’. You may think we’re just obsessed. And we probably are, but we like very much how it came out and it seems that many of our fans like it too, since the view counter goes up by the day...
This world is a cold one when you don’t have whom to love. Even the toughest guys or the lost prostitutes really are looking for a person with whom to share their heart. It is said that we, the souls, meet in this world like straws on a river that are brought together by the current. We ‘sail’ together for a while and then again the current pulls them apart, never to meet again.
Unfortunately today’s world is a world of tits and buts and fucks. We are sad to notice that everything in today’s society revolves around it: from the commercials, to movies, theatres, parties, relationships and of course, musical videos. We were actually told that in order to make this viral we need to show some tits or buts or something to raise the interest level.
After a long journey, the clip for Cold World has finally landed on YouTube :) There are so many things to say about this song and about this video. Indeed lots of interesting and incredible stories that we’ll share with you in the coming week so that you have ‚hot’ news about our COLD WORLD.
Crimea. Relaxing on a mild coast with a soft breeze cooling the body. This was our vacation and meeting with our friends from Atmasfera; but about this in a future blog. We artists are in the hobbit habit of bragging about every little news or accomplishment we have. It’s funny, but indeed it’s like a mother and her child. She likes it when her small brat is in the center of attention; kind of similar with us. Just that in our case, we are both the mother and the child :) Confusing…huh? We like it like that :P
One of my childhood’s amazements was to find out that all nature’s sounds and all what we say corresponds to a certain musical note and is in a certain musical key. That made me realize that everything is music and that music is everywhere.
Life is fast! Fast and furious! :) And even more so in the city where everything’s happening all at once and nobody has time to stop and wonder about the things they’re moved by.What if you were to stop for a while and look at the different trees in a forest or on the side of the road? They sit there quietly ready to provide shade from the scorching heat of the summer.
Music is the most versatile form of art that exists. It’s so attractive and natural that practically speaking everybody likes some kind of music. It’s also one of the most complex form of art because in it reside poetry, dance, various instruments, feelings, philosophy and why not, painting. Good music is also visual. When you hear a great song, you already see pictures, images and you can visualize the ‘story’ it tells you.
For some time now we’ve been announcing the musical video to our song called ’Cold World’. It has been a crazy adventure making this video but we know it was worth it. Lots of travelling, scorching heat, freezing cold, make-up, sleepless night, hard work and wild fun went to accompany what will soon come to be our new and hopefully totally attractive musical clip.
While most people try to reach their goals in the easiest way possible, our bass player always finds something to make his life a little harder. This is why he's started playing the fretless bass! For those unfamiliar with this concept, a fretless instrument (like the violin, cello, double bass etc.) is harder to play due to the fact that you can go out of tune if you move your fingers even slightly.
When children play, they have their curiosity to base their enthusiasm on, when people build, they have their solid foundations to base their constructions on, when dreamers dream, they have their utopias upon which they create their world, and when Modiwo creates we have the musical score to base our ideas on.
Honestly, we the artists, musicians, don’t know much about business. Many of us start with flowers in our noses and many dreamy ideas about the world of music. Like any kid that comes into this world, at the beginning we are innocent and sweet and think that all we need to do is create good music and be nice and everything else will naturally take you up there where everybody will appreciate your gifts :) Let’s face it! We are not businessmen.
